Welcome to Impeccably Imperfect, a thoughtful curation of my favourite Vinted finds — this time focusing on pinkish pastels and reds.
We’re back from Paris, after lots of ice creams, parks, (small) activities, and lots of thoughts. About a book I’m reading (Knife by Salman Rushdie — a memoir recounting the attempt on his life in 2022). About the guide to Paris that I’m creating. (It will be amazing, but will it also work? Aren’t there already so many guides to Paris?)
Friendships. The past. The future. And of course: clothes. (What do kids in Paris wear?)
Since I started this curation, I’m more than ever occupied by clothes. I’ve always loved dressing up, but I never gave it much thought. Now I spend time thinking about upcoming curations, and I watch the people around me dress themselves — and their kids.
The more I watch, the more I realise how important clothes are.
At first glance, they might seem superficial — but they’re not.
They tell us so much: about personality, about whether someone cares about aesthetics, yes — but also about whether they care about the environment. About politics.
The deeper I go into this project, the more I believe: we should NEVER buy something new again. Why would we? There’s already too much.
(And honestly — is your child any happier in a €150 dress than in a €5 one with a stain that was worn by another child before?)
As I write this small intro, I’m dressed in red — in support of a demonstration in The Hague I sadly won’t be able to join. In any case: clothes show how we care about ourselves, and the world we live in.
More than ever — especially when things are difficult — a sentence keeps echoing in my head. It comes from a film I once programmed, back when I still worked in cinema. The whole films was shots in pastels and when I asked the director about his stylistic choices he answered:
“Wrapped up in pastels, life is easier to digest.”
I was heartbroken at the time, wearing a soft pink kimono and lilac trousers for weeks. And life was, indeed, a bit easier to digest while wearing them.

This time, it’s not my personal mess — but something much bigger and much more substantial.
Can we ever trust the system we live in again?
This curation is an ode to pastels that bring comfort, and to bright pink and yellow summer colours.
It ends with a red line.
It doesn’t make sense.
But then — does anything?
Good to know
- Items can be sold already
- I mention the actual size, which might not be the ‘wearing’ size. I love French brands and they usually size small. If you want to be sure, ask the seller!
- Vinted is all about making good deals! I mention the asking price, but you should make an offer. You can see how much interest there is for an item and for how long it has been online. Think smart!
- Always check what other items a buyer has. Maybe they have more in the size of your kid. Bundles are cheaper and more sustainable.
- Sometimes, I add a product that is new, because I want to support a sustainable/ small brand.
- For the most sustainable choice, try to buy from within your own country.

1. A scooter – this one from Micro is foldable and perfect. We went criss cross Paris (hardly any subway because we both don’t like) and she did everything with this scooter. Amazing.
2. Yoto – along the road, in restaurants, but also useful before sleeping because always overstimulated.
3. Sunglasses (Bought in Paris and hopefully staying with us for a while..)
