Welcome to Impeccably Imperfect, a thoughtful curation of my favourite Vinted finds for kids, this time presenting my favourite Vichy finds, the perfect spring fabric.
When Lila was born, I owned a pair of Vichy hotpants, which I uncomfortably wore that first summer as a mother (a bit like what David Bowie is wearing in the image below — haha). I was happy I could fit into them again, but they no longer felt like mine. While no one is restricted from wearing anything, they just didn’t feel right anymore.
Vichy evokes a certain innocence—one I felt I had passed on to that tiny baby after the life-altering experience of giving birth.
What Vichy mostly stirs in me is a sense of nostalgia. And as someone drawn to books and cinema, I’m especially sensitive to that. You’ll find many of my curations referencing scenes and novels—La Piscine, for example, one of the most stylish films ever made.
This week is an ode to Vichy: the ‘innocent’—or at least pretending to be—character in every story.
Good to know
- Items can be sold already 🙁
- I mention the actual size, which might not be the ‘wearing’ size. I love French brands and they usually size small. If you want to be sure, ask the seller!
- Vinted is all about making good deals! I mention the asking price, but you should make an offer. You can see how much interest there is for an item. Think smart!
- Always check what other items a buyer has. Maybe they have more in the size of your kid. Bundles are cheaper and more sustainable.
- Sometimes, I add a product that is new, because I want to support a sustainable/ small brand.
- For the most sustainable choice, try to buy from within your own country.
Oui Oui Vichy!
Seen on Lady Di, Vichy is a bit fussy to me, but its very easy to spice up with a pop shirt an oversized jeans, or nice shoes. Super fan now. Jane Birkin looks incredible wearing it. Rewatch La Piscine (1969) for the best styling and inspiration.
